First-Year Chromebook Training Led by Links Students Under the Guidance of Mr. Kennedy, Ms. Barry, & Mr. Cusack

At the end of August, we welcomed our first-year students into a new era of learning as they participated in Chromebook Training, assisted by none other than their Links students. Under the expert guidance of Mr. Kennedy, Ms. Barry, and Mr. Cusack, the first-years learned essential skills for using their Chromebooks to enhance their academic experience.

The session was designed not only to familiarise students with the hardware but to introduce them to the tools and software they will be using throughout the year. What made this training special was the involvement of their Links mentors—experienced older students who have been through the same process and were eager to help the younger students settle in. These peer leaders provided hands-on assistance and personalised tips, making the entire experience collaborative and engaging.

Throughout the training, our first-year students gained confidence in navigating their Chromebooks, understanding the Google Workspace apps (such as Google Classroom, Docs, and Slides), and learning best practices for online safety and digital citizenship. Mr. Kennedy, Ms. Barry, and Mr. Cusack facilitated the session, ensuring that each student felt comfortable and supported in using these important educational tools.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to our Links students for their dedication and leadership, and to our teaching staff for their continued commitment to preparing students for the digital demands of modern education.

This training marks the beginning of an exciting journey in our students’ academic lives, where technology and teamwork come together to empower them for success. We look forward to seeing how they will put their new skills to use in the classroom!
